“Waves—both literal and metaphorical—are a central undercurrent in my work,” Saskia Fleishman told us when we asked her about how the theme of this issue relates to her work. “Having grown up along the tidal rhythms of the Chesapeake Bay, I have come to see waves not only as physical forces that shape and erode the land, but as symbolic movements of time, memory, and emotional resonance” she wrote to us. “My paintings and ceramics each reflect this ebb and flow. Waves embody impermanence—they arrive, shift, recede—yet they also speak the eternal.”//
